The lotus flower
The lotus flower has long been a symbol of femininity in many cultures, rising from dark waters to bloom pure and beautiful in the sun.
At EL MAKLAU, we chose the lotus as our symbol because it reflects the values we hold close: feminine wisdom, resilience, growth, and transformation.
Production & Materials
Every EL MAKLAU piece is handcrafted in Portugal and made to order.
By producing only what is needed, we reduce unnecessary waste while allowing each garment to be created with care and intention.
Our crochet swimwear is made from a premium blend of:
- 80% Organic Cotton
- 20% Recycled Polyamide
Due to the handmade nature of our garments, slight variations may occur, making every piece unique.
Shipping Information
Each piece is handmade to order. Please allow 10–17 business days for production before your order is shipped.
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.
For international orders, customs duties and import taxes may apply depending on the destination country and are the responsibility of the customer.
Returns & Exchanges
At EL MAKLAU, each piece is handmade to order with care and intention.
Size Exchanges
If your item does not fit as expected, we are happy to offer a size exchange, subject to availability.
To request an exchange, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order.
Returns
Due to the handmade, made-to-order nature of our pieces and for hygiene reasons, returns are only accepted under specific conditions.
To be eligible for a return, the item must:
- Be unworn and unused
- Not have been washed or wet
- Have the hygienic liner intact
- Be in its original condition, free from any signs of wear, damage, perfume, sunscreen, or deodorant
- Be returned within 14 days of delivery
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item arrives damaged or incorrect.
Items that do not meet these conditions cannot be accepted.

Care Guide
To preserve the beauty and longevity of your crochet garment:
- Hand wash only in cold water
- Do not machine wash
- Do not tumble dry
- Dry flat in the shade
- Avoid rough surfaces that may snag the crochet
- Rinse thoroughly after exposure to salt water or chlorine
- Store flat when possible
